Maine Unemployment Application

Submitting an unemployment claim in the state of Maine can be achieved through three different methods.

The easiest and quickest method is to use the online claim form, located here at https://portalxw.bisoex.state.me.us/mics/.  You can file a claim using the system providing you have either worked in the state of Maine within the last 18 months, or have not claimed unemployment in another state in the last year.  You can also use it to claim if you have served anywhere in the military.  All claims will require a Social Security Number as well as the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of each place you’ve worked during the past 18 months.

If Internet access is not possible, the unemployment Claims Center can be called toll-free 1-800-593-7660 or TTY 1-888-457-8884, although the state advises that calls to this number can take a long time to connect.  The best times to call to avoid this are Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.

Finally, you can file by mail using forms available at your nearest CareerCenter, which can be located online here: http://www.mainecareercenter.com/ - for more detailed information.

To review this information further or look into which forms you would need depending on your situation, Maine’s department of labor website at http://www.maine.gov/labor/unemployment/howtofile.html is a good place to start.
