New Mexico Unemployment Application
People who are looking to apply for Unemployment Benefits in the state of New Mexico have several options available to them.
The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions has an online system available here: https://uiclaims.state.nm.us/uiclaim/servlet/gov.nmdol.uiclaim.servlets.UICAuthenticationAndAuthorizationServlet?hidHandleID=1677_CAN
The system uses your Social Security number and a PIN system to log you in. The system is unavailable for handling initial claims or certifications between 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm on Fridays, or from 8:00 pm – 3:00 am daily for maintenance. The site requests you have the following information ready in order to complete your claim:
Social Security Number
Mailing address and phone number of all the employers you’ve worked for in the last 18 months
The starting and ending dates of your last job
The gross amount of your pay if you worked during the week you are filing your claim for
Pencil and paper to write down instructions
Calling the department will require similar information. The number for new UI claims is (505) 841-4000. You will be asked a series of automated questions which must be answered using the numbers on your phone. Depending on your responses, you will then be passed to a customer service representative to complete your claim.
The department takes the majority of its calls on Monday and Friday, so they suggest you call either Tuesday or Thursday to take advantage of shorter wait times.
